Stephen's story is inspirational, and uplifting. In his life, he has had more life experiences and misadventures than most people have in a lifetime. He has traveled to six continents and 50 countries, and among other highlights, he got lost in an underwater cave in Australia while scuba diving, was gored by a wild cow in a rodeo, personally witnessed the fall of the Berlin wall, and bungy jumped in Zimbabwe. In addition, he loves challenges, both physical and mental, as he completed several Ironman triathlons (4km swim/180km bike/42 km run) and trekked across a Kenyan desert with camels. He also found time to obtain two university degrees, and was awarded the most outstanding graduating student, as well as the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award; he also has won several public speaking and stand-up comedy competitions. He was one of the first deaf lawyers in North America, led a community development project in Guyana, South America, worked as a management consultant, has appeared in the Canwest Vancouver Comedy festival, and is currently operating a successful international manufacturing business with his wife. He is also the subject of a CBC documentary, "In between the Laughter" which was aired nationally. One last thing - he was born profoundly deaf, and the doctors told his parents that he would never speak. Guess they were wrong.
